Rupert Grint has joined Instagram to introduce his baby daughter Wednesday to the world.

The 32-year-old Harry Potter star – best known for playing Ron Weasley in the film series – welcomed a daughter with his partner Georgia Groome on 7 May this year.

Grint shared a picture of him holding his seven-month-old captioned: “Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.”

His Harry Potter co-star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy and is a keen Instagram user, was quick to reply, writing: “Welcome Weasley , it’s about time. Love to Wednesday xx”

Grint has accrued 1.6m followers in less than 24 hours, including Ariana Grande.

He is following Felton, who has 8.7m followers, and fellow Potter star Emma Watson – who played Weasley’s love interest Hermione Granger – who has 58.6m followers. Daniel Radcliffe, who played Potter, is not on Instagram.

Grint is also following Liam and Noel Gallagher, RuPaul and Sir David Attenborough.

Grint and 28-year-old actress Groome have been together since 2011. They announced the news that she was pregnant in April.

The couple then announced the birth on Thursday 7 May, in a statement issued by their publicist that said: “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl. We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”

Grint rose to fame in the film series, based on JK Rowling’s popular books, starring in eight Harry Potter movies between 2001 and 2011.

His TV roles include Sky One comedy Sick Note and Agatha Christie adaption The ABC Murders for BBC, and he is currently starring in horror series Servant on Apple TV.

Groome is best known for roles in the 2006 crime drama London To Brighton and the 2008 comedy Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging.
