Naga Munchetty praised for 'classy' clapback at Twitter troll

Naga Munchetty has been praised for her "classy" response as she clapped back at a Twitter troll who criticised her appearance.

The BBC Breakfast star, 45, responded after spotting a now-deleted tweet which is thought to have referred to a pair of silver shoes she wore on the morning programme.

Taking to Twitter, she dished out three "suggestions" for the troll, named only as Paul.

"1. Add a picture of yourself to your Twitter profile," she said.

"2. Think about what you Tweet before you write.

"3. I'll leave you to guess this one."

Munchetty shared another critical tweet from someone also named Paul – although it's not clear whether it was the same one – who referred to her as "that Asian bird".

The person had written: "I never understand why Charlie (BBC Breakfast's Charlie Stayt) has to wear a formal business suit and that Asian bird seems to be able to wear whatever the hell she wants?"

Munchetty's fans were impressed with the way she handled the comments.

"Naga, there are so many haters out there... Wow! You're the most stylish presenter on in the morning and your image consultant is on point," said one person on Twitter.

Another tweeted: "OK so you get Twitter abuse for wearing stilettos and Twitter abuse for not? I wonder, just wonder whether it's just some people like to abuse you and they can't make a dent in your personality, intelligence or professionalism so they go after something frivolous?"

One fan called Munchetty "classy and knowledgeable" and said she "could be barefoot if she likes".

"I really don't understand why people think it is fair to express their crass opinions like that," said another post.

"Classy, Naga," posted another admiring fan. "Paul is hopefully away having a quiet word with himself."

Munchetty has been taking on sexist and racist trolls for years, this, below, from 2016.
