Comedian and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Seann Walsh has said he's "not surprised" by the death of former Love Island presenter Caroline Flack and revealed he predicted it "would happen soon".

Flack was found dead in her flat on Saturday after taking her own life.

The 40-year-old hosted ITV2 show Love Islandfor five series from 2015, but had been dropped for the current winter series after allegations of assault against boyfriend Lewis Burton.

The allegations lead to huge media interest and Walsh has alluded to himself feeling suicidal after a press storm relating to his own very public breakup in 2018.

The 34-year-old was pictured kissing his Strictly Come Dancing dance partner Katya Jones, which lead to his actress girlfriend Rebecca Humphries writing an open letter to Walsh ending their relationship and accusing him of controlling behaviour.

Addressing Flack's suicide, Walsh tweeted: "Shocked by the news of Caroline's death but not surprised. I have said that this would happen soon.

"I was very nearly pushed there myself. I do not post this lightly. It's absolutely tragic. It's sad and disgusting and should never have happened. I'm sorry."

In response, fellow comedian Shappi Khorsandi said Walsh was "bullied so relentlessly" and added she was "very thankful" he didn't take his own life. She wrote: "I know you were. I thought of when I heard. (sic). Desperately sad.

"You were bullied so relentlessly, shown no mercy by people who consider themselves good people.

"Those of us who tried to be kind to you publicly were also piled on. Very thankful you didn't my friend."

Others also offered their support, with comedian and Talksport host Charlie Bakers writing: "Love you Seann", while comedian Tez simply wrote "Hugs".
