Laurence Fox suffering from insomnia over death threats

Laurence Fox has confessed he has been suffering from insomnia since his controversial appearance on Question Time last week.

The 41-year-old Lewis star - who is father to sons Winston, 11, and Eugene, seven, with ex-wife Billie Piper - has been sent death threats and admitted it made him worry for the safety of his children.

Fox told Good Morning Britain: "I have a small bout of, hopefully, temporary insomnia. I've had death threats and I have got children. I've had death threats, yeah [in the last week] and it's not pleasant."

Fox has reposted some of the death threats he has received on social media.

But the actor and musician insisted he did not regret anything he said on the BBC debate programme - which included accusing an audience member - later revealed to be a university lecturer and race and ethnicity researcher - of being "racist" for suggesting he was a privileged white male.

He said: "What I said on Question Time, I 100 per cent stand behind. I said what I felt and I continue to believe it."

Fox also stood by his criticism of the inclusion of a Sikh soldier character in World War I film1917, which he claimed distracted from the storyline in its efforts to show diversity.

Asked if he was worried that his recent controversial comments might jeopardise his acting career he said: ""We will have to wait and see, but does one want to work in a career where you have to have the right opinions. I don't. I don't think art is going to be improved if everyone has exactly the same opinion."
