Joe Sugg says girlfriend Dianne Buswell is 'not ok' after shock 'Strictly' exit

Joe Sugg has given a worrying update on his dancer girlfriend Dianne Buswell after her tearful shock exit from Strictly Come Dancing, revealing she is "not ok".

The YouTuber was a finalist in last year's Strictly where he was partnered with Buswell, who he is now in a relationship with, and had expected his girlfriend to stay in for the full series once more with her partner, BBC Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin.

But in a shock move, the pair were the third couple booted from the BBC contest over the weekend, with all four judges choosing to save Viscountess Emma Weymouth and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec from the dance-off instead - leaving Buswell in floods of tears.

Appearing on ITV's Lorraineshow where he was asked what happened, Sugg replied: "Good question, what did happen? I think, like the rest of the country right now, I'm in massive shock, absolutely gutted for Dev and Dianne.

"It's just a real shock."

As host Lorraine Kelly asked whether Buswell was ok, Sugg answered: "No, not really.

"I really don't think that it should have been them to go. They had so much potential. He was brilliant, he was an amazing student, and I don't know, it just doesn't seem..."

Sugg held back from finishing his sentence with his thoughts on what had happened, and added: "Weird."

Griffin and Buswell had enjoyed some high scores in the competition, including 36 points in the previous week for an Aladdin-themed couple's choice routine which judge Motsi Mabuse called "one of those dances we will remember forever".

Fans of the show were shocked to see them not only in the bottom two on Sunday, but unanimously voted out against Weymouth.

The other contestants were clearly shocked at the result and Buswell sobbed in Griffin's arms on the ballroom floor during what should have been their last dance together.

Many viewers also voiced their anger on Twitter at what they felt was erratic high scoring of poorer dancers such as David James and Mike Bushell, putting Griffin and Buswell in the danger zone of the leaderboard.
