Katie Price claims she is on a ‘red security alert’ after police contacted her to warn her she was the target of kidnap plot by an Essex gang.

The TV personality says she was visited by police officers on Thursday and warned of the sinister plot by an underworld criminal group based in Romford.

Talking of the plot, she said: “It’s been horrible. The police were trying to get hold of me all week to tell me they’d discovered this threat against me, a plan to kidnap me.

“Their Intelligence guys have tracked down this gang in Romford, Essex, and have them under surveillance.

“I have been upgraded to a ‘red’ security alert which means I’m basically just a touch of a button away from contacting them in an emergency, if someone attacks me.

“Obviously it’s not a nice thought and has been quite stressful.”

It is not the first time the 41-year-old has had to deal with a kidnap plot. While taking part on ITV panel chat show Loose Women last year, Price revealed son Harvey was targeted by a gang who planned to demand a huge ransom for the return of the disabled teen.

She revealed: “In the past six months there was one. Scotland Yard got in touch. I thought, ‘Is this another joke?’ But it wasn’t.

“It started off with an email, £50,000 ransom, and if not they were going to find Harvey, cut him up, slash him, if I didn’t pay this money.

“So the police found the address and it was just a woman that lived there. That’s closed. We haven’t had any more emails from them.”

Price was also targeted last March when her car was hijacked while she was in South Africa. Her minder was physically assaulted and the star had thousands of pounds worth of personal property stolen, including gems, laptops and cameras.
