Ant and Dec gatecrash 'This Morning' on Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby's anniversary

Holly Willoughby’s jaw dropped as Ant and Dec gate-crashed This Morning to surprise her on the 10th anniversary of her hosting the show with Phillip Schofield.

Ant and Dec were supposed to appear in a feature about Britain’s Got Talent after Thursday’s fashion segment but instead stormed the set, shouting: “Stop this nonsense!”

A shocked Willoughby replied: “What are you doing?

“You’re supposed to be on the VT! Oh my God!”

The pair informed the presenters they were staging a takeover, telling them: “You don’t need your scripts for the rest of the morning, because we are in charge. Phil and Holly, This Is Your Anniversary!”

The next 45 minutes saw Ant and Dec showcase some of Schofield and Willoughby’s charity campaigns and their best guests and interviews, including the guest with a collection of adult blow-up dolls and an Australian who paints with his penis.

The artist had actually painted a portrait of Schofield and Willoughby for the special occasion – but Ant and Dec joked it had been “impounded” at Heathrow.

Viewers also had another glimpse of the day the hosts presented the entire show without having gone to bed after the National Television Awards.

“I remember looking at him [Phil] and thinking ‘Is this okay? Is anyone going to come in and stop us?’” laughed Willoughby.

“You only do that once, never again!”

Willoughby and Schofield said it did not feel as if a decade had passed, with Schofield saying that, like Ant and Dec, he was working with his “best mate”.

The pair also posted sweet messages about each other on Instagram.

Willoughby wrote: “Happy @thismorning anniversary @schofe ... 10 years of pure joy and laughter... so lucky to share a sofa with you.”

She later added a picture of them with Ant and Dec, saying: “Well that was an incredible surprise...

“Thank you @antanddec and @thismorning for making it so special... 10 years have flown by because they have been so happy, I’ve learnt so much, laughed so much and to be trusted with your story’s and invited into your front room every morning with my best friend is an absolute honour...

“Here’s to the next 10!”

Schofield captioned a snap of him and Willoughby: “Happy 10th telly anniversary @holywills @thismorning lots of love bestie.”

Willoughby and Schofield started presenting This Morning together in 2009.
