New Strictly Come Dancing star Will Bayley has been caught out after a tweet of his, in which he seemingly mocked the BBC One dancing show, was recently unearthed.

Back in 2012, the Paralympic table tennis champion joked about taking his own life when he said he was stuck watching the show, rather than being out with his friends.

The tweet, which was brought to light by The Sun, read: “I’m 24 and I’m sat watching Strictly on a Friday night! Anyone got any rope?"

Bayley became the tenth star to sign on for this year’s series of Strictly, and he recently spoke about appearing on the show in an interview with TalkRADIO.

“I’ll work really hard, but I need someone to be honest, I just want someone to tell me if I’m rubbish!” he said.

“I have never, ever danced in my life. Apart from in clubs where my friends have told me to stop dancing in the club because I’m awful, so it’s going to be tough.

“I'm so proud to be on the show, it's my family's favourite show. I have no dance experience at all, but I hope I can do well."

Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing and RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage were also recently announced to be joining the BBC One show.

Laing was confirmed on ITV's Loose Women, where he said he hopes his Strictly stint will make his mother proud. The reality star revealed that he has known about his new position on the show for about a month, adding: "I'm not very good at keeping secrets so that was quite tricky, especially from my mum.

"I couldn't even tell my mum, and every single year she says, 'are you doing the show?'... So hey, surprise mum!"

He added: "She's very excited, it's one of those shows that not only do you get to learn a talent and things like that, but at last she'll be proud of me."

Meanwhile, Visage, who is a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, said: “Getting to do Strictly in my favourite place on Earth is an actual DREAM!

“I'm so excited to show that being 50 doesn't mean life stops. Things may not work like they did when I was 20, but 50 also means 'FABULOUS!'“
