Disney star Cameron Boyce dies in sleep age 20

Disney Channel star Cameron Boyce has died aged 20.

The star of TV movies franchise Descendants and comedy show Jessie passed away in his sleep after suffering a seizure he suffered as the result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.

A spokesperson for Boyce’s family told ABC News: "It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron.“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

"We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother."

Boyce, who had 8.1 million followers on Instagram, made his acting debut in the horror film Mirrors aged just nine-years-old

He appeared in the Adam Sandler movie franchise Grown Ups, playing one of Sandler's children.

Boyce was catapulted to stardom playing Cruella De Vil’s son Carlos in the fantasy musical made-for-TV movies Descendants. He is believed to have filmed his part in Descendants 3 which is due for release on the Disney Channel next month.

A spokesperson for the network said: "From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world.

“As a young man, he was fuelled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples' lives through his humanitarian work.

"He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend.

"We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed."

Director Kenny Ortega wrote on Instagram: “Peter Pan, The forever boy! Love you Cam!”

Boyce did admirable work for charity since becoming famous. Last year, he was honoured with a Pioneering Spirit award for his work with the Thirst Project, for which he raised around £24,000 to build wells for clean drinking water in Swaziland.
