Jay McGuiness has revealed what really goes on behind the scenes at Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Wanted singer who won the show in 2015 with Aliona Vilani, claimed that contestants were "hooking up" away from the glare of the show's cameras.

"There was definitely things going on, I know for a fact that people were hooking up. It can feel that everyone is at it," McGuiness told The Sun.

"People snog behind the scenes and it gets brushed under the carpet. People seem to be all over each other. It's a constant cycle."

"Some of it will die after a week, and then it's about the next season. Some people get away with it, and some people don't," he went on to add.

The show has seen many celebrities couple up with their professional dance partners once the show has come to an end.

As a result, the BBC talent show has its own Strictly 'curse' with constant speculation about which couples have succumbed to it every series.

Ahead of the new series, speculation has been rife about who will appear on the show later this year.

James Cracknell, Andy Murray, Lucy Fallon, Chris Evans and Scarlett Moffatt are just some of the stars tipped to waltz onto the dancefloor.

Meanwhile, Anita Rani believes that Darcey Bussell's replacement shouldn't be a professional dancer.

Talking to the Express, Rani said: "I think they should have a complete non-dancer to replace her who just reflects on what the audience are saying.

"Someone with completely no dance experience."
