Noel Edmonds has revealed how he keeps his youthful looks – and it's a routine he calls "snackcercise".

But, while the 70-year-old defines his routine as working "hard to keep in shape" – exercising to the point of exhaustion before doing the same again two days later – he may not be aware that "snackcercising" already exists, and has been practised for some time by non other than Miss Piggy.

Fans of the muppet have even created a hashtag, which has been used by many people including Kylie Minogue.

The Deal or No Deal presenter revealed his secret routine in an interview in The Guardian today – and his keep fit regime wasn't all he opened up about.

He spoke candidly about the failure of his company, the collapse of his marriage, and the dark places these events took him.

"It was my rock bottom," he explained. "Let's be 100% clear about this: I tried to kill myself on January 18, 2005."

"I was as guilty as most people of thinking that anyone who wanted to take their own life was selfish and ridiculous. But you really can't judge anyone until you've been in that space," he added.

But the 70 year-old sought help, finally marrying again – make-up artist Liz – and going on to take part in last year's I'm a Celebrity.

He was the first contestant to be voted off after it was suggested that he was using a secret code to communicate with his wife.Today he considers himself "intergenerational". People take selfies with him and his step-sons Google him.

"This is the happiest period in my life," he says. "I live in a lovely part of France. If people think I am a failure because I am not on telly every day, that is their problem."
