Baseball crowd boos Bruce Willis after he bungles the opening pitch

It might be best if Bruce Willis sticks to acting and being grumpy.

For last night, in throwing out the first pitch at the Philadelphia Phillies game against the Milwaukee Brewers, he showed his baseball prowess to be somewhat lacking.

BACK TO SLIDE

Firstly, the 64-year-old star of Die Hard and Pulp Fiction even managed to mangle the stepping up to the mound bit, standing several feet in front of it.

And when the throw came, it failed to make the grade, the ball bouncing before reaching the plate and being caught by Phillies relief pitcher Aaron Nola.

He may have been wearing his own Phillies shirt, with Willis emblazoned across the back, but the crowd certainly left him in no doubt as to the quality of his pitching, booing him liberally.

The disapproval even managed to drown out the Die Hard theme music, which was blaring from the ground's sound system.

Willis is indeed a fan of the team, so the boos must have really stung.

He's not the first to bungle an opening pitch, however, and he doubtless won't be the last.

Back in 2014, 50 Cent missed the plate by several metres throwing out the first pitch at the Mets' Citi Field.

It was dubbed the worst first pitch in major league baseball history.
