Explaining that she will have to make it work around her family life, the actress continued to comment: "It's just working it around my girls. Matilda's at the age now where she's four and she needs to be taken to all of her lessons. Obviously with me living in Scotland it's a four hour drive and Delilah's nearly one."
"I just love it so much. I've been there since I was nine," Flanagan added during the conversation about Coronation Street.
"I really miss Sally (Sally Metcalfe) and I miss Sophie (Brooke Vincent) because she's having a baby. It's really nice because when she [Brooke] found out she was pregnant she rang me straight away."
Flanagan's news comes weeks after a number of cast members announced they were leaving the soap over the next year.
Lucy Fallon recently confirmed that she would be leaving her character Bethany Platt behind when her contract comes to an end in 2020.
Sharing the news via a statement, Fallon told fans: "I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It's hard to put into words how much this show means to me. I've made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I've had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I've laughed with the best people everyday.
"I'm so thankful to Iain [MacLeod, producer] and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly."
Amid the rumours that cast members were unhappy on the soap, Fallon insisted that her decision to leave had nothing to do with anyone.
