Holly Willoughby presents 'This Morning' alone as she reveals Phillip Schofield is 'not well'


Holly Willoughby presented the latest episode of This Morning alone.

Willoughby announced that she was presenting the show solo in an ad break during Jeremy Kyle and promised that Phillip Schofield’s absence would be explained when the show began at 10.30am.

As the credits rolled, the cameras focused on Willoughby who was sitting alone at the table.

Opening the show, Willoughby revealed that Schofield was not on the show because he was unwell.

“Welcome to Thursday’s This Morning. You may have noticed that I’m all by myself,” she began.

“Phillip is not well today so we’re wishing him lots of love and hope that’s he’s better soon” she explained before revealing how she couldn’t bear to sit in his seat.

“It’s so weird, I came and sat here and I sat in his chair and it didn’t seem right to sit in his chair. This is very strange,” she added.

Willoughby’s solo presenting gig comes as a surprise as a member of the This Morning family are usually called in as a last minute stand-in.

Schofield has yet to share more details about his absence on his social media.

Viewers were quick to comment on the show’s unusual hosting set up with one user sharing: “Holly looks odd without Phillip lol. #ThisMorning.”

“Holly doesn’t seem right by herself!! #thismorning,” came the response from another viewer.

A third user of the social networking site shared: “This is weird seeing just Holly doing #ThisMorning by herself.”

Others questioned why Rylan Clark-Neal and Alison Hammond weren’t on hand to help.

“That is rubbish that they couldn’t find a co-host to help Holly out. Where’s Alison Hammond or Rylan when you need them! #ThisMorning,” read an additional tweet.
