Brookside star Paul Usher set to star in EastEnders

Brookside star Paul Usher is joining the cast of EastEnders.

The actor, 57, will guest star in a handful of episodes, the BBC soap said.

Reports suggest Usher will play a "hardman" in Albert Square.

The actor starred as Barry Grant in Channel 4 soap Brookside for several years.

He is also known for playing Des Taviner in police drama The Bill.
