Inside Hayden Panettiere's 'sad situation': Why isn't she living with her daughter?

Hayden Panettiere's life is currently a "sad situation," insiders say.

For its latest cover story, Us Weekly uncovers new details on the former "Nashville" actress' life without her daughter, Kaya, 4, who she "hasn't had much time with" over the last six months.

Panettiere, 29, split from fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, 42, in August 2018 after nine years together and, since then, Kaya has been living with the heavyweight champion boxer in Ukraine, where he's originally from. His mother is reportedly helping him raise her.

"She knows the child being with her is not best for [Kaya right now]" an insider said of Panettiere. "It's a sad situation."

Following her breakup from Klitschko in August, which followed years of split rumors, the actress quickly moved on with South Carolina native Brian Hickerson. Just a month after they were first spotted together last August, the couple were "getting serious," and she had already met his family.

"They are full steam ahead!" a source said at the time. "They party together and are having fun."

In the months since, though, speculation has mounted around the health and dynamics of Panettiere's relationship with Hickerson. Police were reportedly called to his father's home, where she "appeared to be frantic" when she opened the door, after an altercation left Hickerson with "what appeared to be blood on his face."

"It's not a healthy situation," another source said of the couple around that time.

Around the time of the altercation, sources said that they were "worried" for the actress and that she was "drinking too much" with her new boyfriend.

Hayden Panettiere made her first public appearance in months at the end of January at a screening of "Sharkwater Extinction" in Los Angeles, where she was all smiles alongside with Hickerson.
