Glenn Close reveals intimate secrets on red carpet before winning award

Glenn Close disclosed some intimate and cheeky secrets while sipping on some bubbly at the 25th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

During the very candid interview she also shared fashion details about her stunning red carpet look.

Later in the evening, Close was awarded the gong for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for The Wife.

The film star stood out in an all-white look before taking to the stage to pick up her statuette for playing Joan in the Björn Runge-directed drama.

The 71-year-old paid an emotional tribute to her mother and grandmother after picking up her prize. Speaking backstage, she said: "When we made this film, the #MeToo movement didn't even exist. And to have it come out, to talk about the women, like my mom, who - feminism was not in their sensibility.

"I'm wearing my grandmother's wedding ring because I found out after she died that the one thing she wanted to be was an actress.

"And she never would've been allowed to do that, she was not allowed to do it. And so I feel like I'm fulfilling her dream."

The ceremony on Sunday night also reunited Close and Michael Douglas, with whom she starred in the 1987 thriller Fatal Attraction. As they presented the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a television series they referenced the film, with Douglas saying: "[In the] thirty-two years since Fatal Attraction... we experienced many changes in our craft and in our industry and how we relate to each other and our world. The one constant that unites us is the joy of being captivated by a mesmerising performance."

Elsewhere, Emily Blunt won best supporting actress for A Quiet Place, Mahershala Ali won best supporting actor for Green Book and Rami Malek won best actor for Bohemian Rhapsody. In a shock win, the cast of Black Panther won best ensemble cast in a motion picture.

Looking forward, Close's Oscar nomination for The Wife is her seventh, though she has never won. Finger crossed she gets it this time!
