Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton, who’s been playing Sean Tully since 2003, has revealed that the ITV soap is set for a huge stunt.

He had previously told The Sun about an upcoming storyline that is so controversial, Corrie producers initially emailed all of the actors involved to confirm that they were willing to go through with it.

“I’ve had an email today about something I can’t talk about, about if anybody has concerns with certain things that might happen then we need to talk about them now, that’s starting as soon as we get back,” he told The Sun back in December.

And now Tully has dropped more hints on the storyline and says that it will involve a huge stunt – that will take weeks to film – and centre around himself.

“It’s the beginning of a very big stunt which is going to take weeks to film. It’s related to me. There’s one outcome but a dozen of us involved,” he told The Sun in a new interview.

When asked if it is related to the secretive email he’d previously discussed, he said: “So that’s what we’re starting and it’s going to take the best part of six weeks. We’re doing bits of it at Corrie and bits of it outside.”

Cotton has been the centre of many popular Corrie storylines. Last year saw his character become destitute and homeless which he says was particularly close to his heart.

“I was very proud to play that storyline out. I work a lot with the military and have done for the last ten years.

“One in four homeless people are veterans, which is kind of an extraordinary statistic. I took that storyline very seriously and was thrilled to be part of it, I loved it,” he said.

This new ‘stunt’ storyline will come after one of Coronation Street’s most controversial years. 2018 saw Bethany Platt at the heart of a shocking teen grooming storyline, Sally Metcalfe’s surprise imprisonment and Pat Phelan’s serial killing spree.
