Margot Robbie unimpressed with Kate Winslet praising Woody Allen

A Hollywood panel interview is going viral due to Margot Robbie's reaction to Kate Winslet praising Woody Allen.

The English actress, 42, is currently promoting her new film Wonder Wheel, which is written and directed by Allen.

The film-maker has been at the centre of renewed controversy recently in the wake of a string of sexual harassment and abuse allegations against some Hollywood directors, producers and actors.

While the careers of Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey are in tatters following the allegations, many critics have questioned why Allen is still working and lauded in Hollywood.

Allen has vehemently denied claims he sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow 25 years ago, while his relationship with now-wife Soon-Yi Previn had a questionable start as she was the adopted daughter of his long-term partner Mia Farrow when they met.

Last weekend, Winslet appeared on a Los Angeles Times roundtable interview with Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, Annette Bening, and Jessica Chastain.

Many viewers were struck by Robbie and Chastain's facial expressions while listening to Winslet praise Allen.

Robbie looked far from impressed as she sat beside Winslet as the latter waxed lyrical about Allen's talents.

The Titanic star said: "Woody Allen is an extraordinary writer. He's obviously known for having created extraordinary roles, very very powerful and complicated roles for women, for many many years."

Chastain has publicly stated on Twitter she would never work with Allen and pointed out she hadn't signed a petition to bring director Roman Polanski, who was convicted of raping a 13-year-old in 1977, but fled before sentencing, back to the US.

Many Hollywood stars, including Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton, Isabelle Huppert, Penelope Cruz, Wes Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Martin Scorsese, Monica Bellucci, and Harrison Ford were reported to have signed a 2009 petition for Polanski's release after he was arrested in Switzerland at the request of US authorities. In 2010, a Swiss court denied the US's request to deport him.

In October, Winslet distanced herself from the controversies surrounding both Allen and Polanski - who she worked with on the 2009 film Carnage.

She told the New York Times: "Of course one thinks about [the scandal]. But at the same time, I didn't know Woody and I don't know anything about that family...

"I had an extraordinary working experience with both of those men, and that's the truth."
