Bake Off winner Candice Brown engaged to long-term love

Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown is engaged to her long-term partner Liam Macaulay.

The former secondary school teacher reveals her Scottish tree surgeon boyfriend popped the question in the car park of the Bedfordshire restaurant where they spent their first date.

Brown, 32, told Hello! magazine: "I feel very lucky. I've had such incredible opportunities – Bake Off opened so many doors – and to top it off he puts a ring on it.

"He pulled into the exact same parking spot as that first night and I was laughing about it. He reached into the glove compartment, got out the ring, got down on one knee and said, 'I love you, you are my world. Will you marry me?'"

After winning the Bake Off crown last year, Brown has quit teaching and is focused on her baking and television career.
