Sir Michael Caine makes secret cameo in Dunkirk

Updated

Director Christopher Nolan has confirmed Sir Michael Caine makes a brief cameo in his latest film Dunkirk.

The acting veteran voices the officer who talks to Tom Hardy's character Farrier over the radio in an early scene.

This marks the ninth time Caine and Nolan have worked together.

Nolan admitted he was surprised more people hadn't noticed Caine's subtle cameo: "It's shocking to me that a lot of people haven't (noticed him), when he has really one of the most distinctive voices in cinema.

"I wanted very much to squeeze him in here. It's a bit of a nod to his character in Battle of Britain. And also, it's Michael. He has to be in all my films, after all."
