Actress Abigail Breslin has revealed she was sexually assaulted by someone she knew.
The 20-year-old star, famous for starring in Little Miss Sunshine, posted an Instagram post on Tuesday night for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
She wrote: "You are not obligated to have sex with someone that you're in a relationship with.
"Dating is not consent; marriage is not consent."
She added: "I knew my assailant."
A host of celebrities responded to Breslin's social media post, praising her for her courage in revealing the traumatising incident publicly.
Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland wrote: "Proud of you Abs."
Meanwhile, Will & Grace star Debra Messing said: "I love you, Abbie. You're strength and testimony means so much to too many."
