Martial arts movie star Donnie Yen said fans will decide if there is a sequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as he was honoured with one of Hollywood's highest accolades.
The Chinese actor, who plays a blind warrior monk in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off movie, tipped Rogue One to be 2016´s highest-grossing film as his hand and footprints were immortalised in cement outside the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Producers have reportedly ruled out a follow-up film to Rogue One - which is set just before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - but Donnie suggested his character Chirrut Imwe could return to the big screen if fans demanded it.
He told the Press Association: "I can't say too much about the film but I can be certain that it will be the biggest movie of the year. It will be a great film and a great celebration."
On reports that a sequel has been ruled out, he added: "That is the decision that will be made by all the executives and the producers. Let's just get one movie at a time and we'll see.
"Ultimately it's the fans that call the shots. If the fans really want me to continue in the galaxy then that shall be."
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said Donnie was the first choice to play Chirrut and the character is "the heart" of Rogue One.
She said: "He's the character that most embodies the inspiration that other members of the team need to succeed. He's the spiritual centre of the mission.
"What's exciting about the coming release of Rogue One is that Donnie will be introduced to many people for the first time, even though he's made over 70 films since 1984."
Donnie admitted he was "nervous" as he became the 298th person to place their hands and feet in cement outside the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Joined by his wife Cissy Wang, he said: "Today is truly a remarkable moment in my career.
"As a Chinese actor I feel truly grateful. I'm honoured, I'm proud to be able to make this achievement today.
"I hope this ceremony, this achievement, will inspire many Chinese actors - not just Chinese actors, but many young actors - that they too can achieve the same dream if they put enough hard work into it.
"The force is with me and the force is with everybody."
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is released in UK cinemas on December 15.
