Gregg Wallace has said that he thought of going on Twitter while single as a bit like "going fishing" before he met his wife Anna.
The MasterChef star appeared on ITV's Loose Women where he opened up about his romance with new bride Anne-Marie - his fourth wife - with whom he tied the knot this summer.
Gregg, 51, was asked by the Loose Women panellists if it was true that they met on the social networking site, and his slight delay in responding was picked up by Janet Street Porter.
Gregg replied: "Well, I've had a number of wives, I had to put a number on them."
He added: "But when I was single, Twitter for me was a bit like going fishing. What I found cool about it was that it's not a dating site. So you can chat to people.
"So Anna, my beautiful wife - I've been very fortunate, I've been with her for four years - she just asked me about duck and rhubarb, which is a dish I'd cooked on the telly.
"And I looked at her picture and thought 'Oh my word - you're a pretty girl!'"
He went on to reveal that "Mrs Wallace is very shy" but that "she is the best home cook".
Gregg added: "We like to cook together, we like to play music and open a bottle of wine and we cook, together. But Anna, she's Italian and her whole family are Italian - she's amazing."
Gregg and Anne-Marie, 30, tied the knot in Kent in August in front of best man John Torode and guests including Lisa Faulkner and his MasterChef: The Professionals co-presenters Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti.
