Judge Rinder: Pal Benedict Cumberbatch helped me with 'dramatic' dance faces

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Judge Rinder has revealed that best pal Benedict Cumberbatch has been coaching him on his dancefloor pout.

The daytime TV personality and the Sherlock actor are famously good friends - Cumberbatch officiated Rinder's wedding, and Rinder acted as the star's best man at his nuptials.

When Rinder appeared on BBC Two spin-off programme Strictly - It Takes Two, he told Zoe Ball that he had called on his actor mate's help in getting the brooding, sultry look exactly right for his Halloween week paso doble in the dancing contest.

Rinder, who performed the routine to Lady Gaga's Born This Way, said: "He did help me with some faces for my paso doble to get into the dramatic performance of it and we improved that week, so..."

He also talked about a commentary of his jive that Cumberbatch recorded for BBC Radio 1, much to the hilarity of his fans.

Rinder said: "He's been really lovely, I'm not sure if anyone heard on Radio 1 his commentary of my jive, but it was brilliant."

Seeming to refer to the possibility of Cumberbatch coming along to support him at a live show, he said: "Sadly he's been busy promoting Dr Strange, but watch this space."

Rinder's grandparents Harry and Frances proved a hit with viewers last weekend when they sat in the audience to support their grandson for Saturday night's episode.

Talking about host Tess Daly announcing that he and partner Oksana Platero were through to the next week of the competition, he said: "I was worried because we were the last to be called and if it had gone horribly wrong I was worried that my grandfather might have rugby tackled Tess."
