Strictly's Danny Mac: High rumba score made no sense to me

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Danny Mac has admitted he couldn't understand why his rumba scored so highly.

The former Hollyoaks star and his dance partner Oti Mabuse scored a total of 35 points on Saturday night for their romantic routine, but Danny didn't seem sure that he was deserving of the high mark.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on spin-off show Strictly Come Dancing - It Takes Two, he explained that he was surprised the score had been so close to their quickstep mark of 36 points the week before.

He said: "With the quickstep I had the most fun, I would have been happy if we'd got twos, but obviously it went really well.

"With the rumba you just don't expect that. When we went up and got 8 and three 9s, it didn't really make sense to me if I'm honest."

He added of the dance: "It was terrifying during the week. Watching it back, it went a lot smoother than it felt."

The pair will be dancing a spooky-themed foxtrot in this weekend's show and Danny revealed: "It's a corpse wedding that turns dark."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One at 6.45pm.
