A security guard is reported to have been stabbed and an intruder shot at the Los Angeles home of supermodel Miranda Kerr.
The Australian model - who is engaged to Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel - was away from the property during the incident on Friday morning local time, police said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement: "The intruder stabbed the armed security guard and the armed security guard shot the intruder."
Both were taken to hospital, where the security guard is in a stable condition and the intruder is listed as critical with non-life threatening injuries, police added.
A man who gave his name as Jerry told Los Angeles TV station CBS2: "The man, after he was shot, still held the knife and was going after the security man so my guy kicked the knife out of the perpetrator's hands."
Police said: "There were no occupants in the house at the time of this incident. The incident took place on the property, but not inside the house."
Kerr was married to British actor Orlando Bloom from 2010 to 2013, and the pair have a five-year-old son, Flynn.
