David Platt "should explore the Street" on the hunt for romance, according to actor Jack P Shepherd.
The Corrie favourite is currently struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane), who was murdered in cold blood by thug Clayton on the cobbles in July this year.
Asked whether he would like to see David fall in love again following his wife's death, Shepherd replied: "Yeah, definitely. I think he should explore the Street I think..."
Jack, who was speaking to press at a Coronation Street event in central Manchester, will play a pivotal part in a dramatic week of episodes on the cobbles beginning this week.
Next week will see him plotting a suicide mission to kill Clayton as David plans to drive his car full of petrol into the police van that will be escorting Clayton to court as Kylie's trial begins.
However, his mother Gail (Helen Worth) learns of his plans and decides to imprison him in the cellar of Nick's Bistro with the help of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price).
Speaking about filming the scenes which see David attempting to escape from the cellar in a bid to complete his plan, he revealed that he was initially supposed to be surrounded by cockroaches.
However, hiring them proved to be too expensive, so rats were used instead.
"One went up my leg!" he said.
