Greg Rutherford sets the record straight over Strictly training injury

Greg Rutherford has denied that he is worried he is "unable to have children" following a fall during Strictly Come Dancing training.

The Olympian had been at the centre of reports that he and his professional dance partner Natalie Lowe had been in a "freak accident" while rehearsing a jive routine.

But Greg has taken to Twitter to explain that his comments about the calamitous dance practice, made during an interview, were misunderstood.

He wrote: "Seen a lot of articles based around me being in a coma/not being able to father children after a 'nasty fall' during #scd rehearsals...

"All taken MASSIVELY out of context following an interview. Nat came into contact with a certain part of my anatomy. It stung. I'm fine."

In several newspaper articles, Greg was quoted as saying: "We've actually had to adapt our jive because we wanted to do a really extreme jump into a lift. It was epic.

"But then during rehearsals, Nat missed the position and as she grabbed me, she ripped her nail off, which bled everywhere."

He added: "Then we tried again and we lost it. I fell to the floor and couldn't move. I feared I'd never have children again it was that bad."

Last weekend, Greg and Natalie danced a tango to Jump by Van Halen, and collected 26 points from the judges - down from the previous week - landing in ninth place.
