Star-studded line-up for Children In Need Rocks Wogan tribute

Take That, Ellie Goulding and Rick Astley are among the acts who will perform at a special BBC Children In Need Rocks concert to honour Sir Terry Wogan.

The music spectacular will feature songs loved by the veteran broadcaster, who died at the age of 77 on January 31 following a battle with cancer.

Other artists who will perform are X Factor star Olly Murs, American jazz singer Gregory Porter, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Alexander Armstrong, boy band The Vamps and country music duo Ward Thomas.

The event will be hosted by Fearne Cotton and Greg James.

Fearne said: "It has been an honour working with Sir Terry across the years on Children In Need and it's a privilege to be hosting Rocks in celebration of his life. It's going to be a very special evening with some great artists performing some of his favourite tracks."

BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg said it was a privilege to host the concert, adding: "Sir Terry was, in my eyes, the ultimate broadcaster. A friend to millions on his radio show and a hero to millions more through his work with Children In Need. It's an absolute honour to be asked to be part of the concert. It's going to be a brilliant night."

Sir Terry was life president of the BBC charity with which he was involved for more than 30 years.

Performances aside, the concert will feature archive material such as one of the popular Radio 2 Janet and John stories which Sir Terry frequently read on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

Drawings created by Horrid Henry illustrator Tony Ross will accompany the reading.

BBC Children In Need vice chairman and controller of Radio 2 Bob Shennan said: "Sir Terry was one of the nation's best-loved broadcasters and it's a privilege to be celebrating his life with BBC Children In Need Rocks. The night promises to be full of fun for music fans around the country."
