Poldark's Luke Norris, who plays nice-guy Dr Dwight Enys, has no plans to emulate co-star Aidan Turner's torso-baring ways.
Aidan got everyone very excited with his famous scything scene, which saw him baring his six-pack.
But Luke, 30, told the Telegraph he was relieved it wasn't him.
"I wouldn't look like that for a start," he said. "It would be a different response to me getting my kit off like that."
He added: "I'm not an actor because I want that. I'd have to be in the gym more."
Poldark will return for series two in September, and fans will watch Dr Enys becoming hopelessly caught up with a rich, betrothed heiress, played by Gabriella Wilde.
But, Luke, who is married to the actress Joanna Horton, has sympathy with his poor lovestruck character.
"When I was younger, I fell hopelessly in love with the wrong person many, many times," he said. "Including my now wife, who turned out to be the right person."
The actor also backed writer Debbie Horsfield's decision to remove certain elements of the story from Winston Graham's original novels, which he began writing in 1945.
Controversially, she has edited out Ross Poldark's rape of Elizabeth.
"They were written by a man in the 40s and beyond," Luke said.
"Because this series is written by a woman, there's an attempt at redressing that balance a bit."
