The Force Awakens' Daisy Ridley nabs Breakout Star gong at the Teen Choice Awards

She's one of the hot new faces of her generation, so it's no surprise Daisy Ridley bagged herself a top prize at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

The British actress was named Movie Breakout Star for her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The 24-year-old, who shot to fame in the film, beat John Boyega, her British co-star in the Star Wars reboot, to the title.

"Oh my God, this is so scary. There's so many people," Daisy said, as she collected her gong at the star-studded ceremony.

"It feels incredible to be in this category with amazing people, especially my boy John."

She added: "And after all the incredible people we just saw on stage, it feels especially important to be part of a film that represents diversity in such a positive way.

"Thank you for creating this character and everyone for letting me be Rey."

She made sure to celebrate her win later on, sharing a fun Instagram video while telling her fans she is "forever grateful" to have been a part of The Force Awakens.
