Jay Z shares 'Songs for Survival' playlist amid Black Lives Matter protests

Jay Z has revealed a new playlist amid protests over the fatal shooting of two black men by police in the US.

First we got a new song, a protest track that sees Jay expertly set his sights on police brutality, and now he's using the music of others to soundtrack the struggle.

Curated by Hov on his Tidal streaming service, Songs for Survival features defiant songs from artists of generations gone by - Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Nina Simone, Donnie Hathaway, James Brown - as well as some of his contemporaries, such as Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Mos Def and, of course, Beyonce.

Police violence against black Americans is once again in the spotlight once again following the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, both caught on video. Five police officers were later shot and killed in Dallas.

Protests and demonstrations are taking place across the States, and cities in the UK showed their support by staging their own Black Lives Matter protests over the weekend.
