The X Factor's Chloe Jasmine and Stevi Ritchie insist their love is 'genuine' on This Morning

Chloe Jasmine and Stevi Ritchie said their love is "real and genuine" during an appearance on Friday's edition of This Morning.

The X Factor couple were guests of presenters Rylan Clark-Neal and his husband Dan Neal - who became the first gay couple to host the flagship ITV daytime series.

Chloe and Stevi met when they were contestants on Simon Cowell's talent series in 2014. They were engaged seven months later and, shortly afterwards, signed on for Celebrity Big Brother's summer 2015 instalment.

However, the show's confined surroundings and ever-present housemate tensions was not the best environment for the newly-engaged couple and they argued on a number of occasions.

Chloe and Stevi broke up in April and, following the pressure they felt fame had put on their relationship, postponed their marriage. But they are now firmly back together and say their recent wedding blessing proves their romantic liaison is the real deal, and not a publicity stunt.

"We decided to take a step back and reassess our relationship because marriage is a marathon not a sprint," Chloe told Rylan and Dan. "We started dating, like, eight months later, we're on a TV show."

Stevi said: "It was a lot of pressure on us. We had a lot going on. We just needed a break."

Rylan, who has previously interviewed the couple for Big Brother's sister show Big Brother's Bit On The Side, asked Stevi to clear up reports suggesting the relationship had broken down for other reasons.

"I am not abusive, I love this girl to bits," Stevi replied. "Anyone that knows me out there knows that I love her dearly, and I can't wait to marry her when it does happen."

Chloe added: "You cannot trust these papers. Some of these sources are about as viable as tomato ketchup and mayonnaise. We didn't know where they came from and it can be really hurtful when they say that they're our friends. We genuinely wouldn't have friends like that."

The couple, who stood out for differing reasons during their stint on The X Factor, had a wedding blessing on a yacht in Cyprus. Chloe uploaded a photo of the day to her Instagram account with the words: "Have your cake ... and eat it."

Rylan asked Chloe about various stories suggesting her family had not been present.

"My family are the nicest. I've got an amazing family and they are just incredible and I wouldn't be here without them," she replied.
