ITV has denied tabloid reports suggesting Kym Marsh is leaving Coronation Street.
The speculation appears to have been sparked by a storyline in which her character Michelle Connor will depart Weatherfield.
"Kym has made no secret of the fact that she has signed on for another year," a spokeswoman told the Press Association. "She is looking forward to forthcoming story lines."
Former Hear'Say singer Kym, 40, has played Corrie's no-nonsense Michelle for 10 years.
Many of her story lines have revolved around Michelle's tempestuous relationship with Steve (Simon Gregson).
Michelle's imminent decision to take a job on a cruise ship and put some distance between herself and her husband is the latest bump in their marriage. Steve has been difficult to live with since he found out about his wife's kiss with her old boyfriend Will Chatterton (Leon Ockenden).
"This is possibly the biggest test they have had," Simon told ITV when asked about his character's marriage. "It will be interesting to see if they can work through it."
Kym renewed her commitment to the long-running series, but Coronation Street has been hit by some high profile departures.
After 10 years as factory owner Carla Connor, the show recently said farewell to actress Alison King.
Corrie stars Ryan Thomas and Paula Lane, builder Jason Grimshaw and troubled Kylie Platt respectively, are also soon to depart.
