Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly set play one of the earliest comic book superheroes.
The former Ali G star is attached to Warner Bros' movie version of Mandrake The Magician, according to Hollywood news website The Tracking Board.
Etan Cohen, who wrote Tropic Thunder and made his directorial debut with Get Hard starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, is set to direct the project, it was reported.
The studio is said to be seeking a writer for the film, which has been in development for more than a decade.
Mandrake is considered one of the first superheroes after appearing in Lee Falk's 1934 comic strip. The character was a stage magician and powerful illusionist who battled gangsters, mad scientists and extraterrestrials.
The character was the subject of a 12-part serial released by Columbia Pictures in 1939.
Sacha is currently starring as Time in Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass.
