A secret Kanye West show in New York was cancelled after chaotic scenes where thousands of expectant fans gathered outside the venue.
After the rapper's headline performance at the Governors Ball was cancelled on Sunday because of bad weather, word spread that he was planning a secret show instead.
Kanye hinted on Twitter that he was going to hold a surprise concert at 2am on Monday at Webster Hall, tweeting an hour beforehand:
Webster Hall's Grand Ballroom only holds 1,500 people, but the street was soon packed with many thousands of fans hoping to see Kanye perform.
The crowd spilled out from the pavement, gathering in the road and even climbing vehicles, rubbish bins and lampposts.
When the musician himself did appear, he surveyed the crowd through the sunroof of a car which was quickly surrounded by fans.
He reportedly used wife Kim Kardashian's Snapchat to suggest closing the block and having a party outside.
But the venue was forced to cancel the show after the crowd grew too large, tweeting:
Announcements were also made outside Webster Hall through loudspeakers.
Crowds remained on the scene for more than two hours after Kanye left the area, the New York Daily News has reported.
They chanted: "Kayne! Kanye! Kanye!"
