Captain America Chris Evans backs Brie Larson for Captain Marvel


Oscar winner Brie Larson is reportedly the front runner to be the star of Marvel's first female superhero film and she already has a key supporter.

Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the franchise, says he would love to see Brie in the role.

During a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia, Chris said: "I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in '09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World," according to

Chris played one of the Evil Exes in the cult film, while Brie played Envy Adams.

Chris added: "I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she's phenomenal, and I really hope that happens."

Captain Marvel is the alter ego of Carol Danvers, a fan favourite in the Marvel comic book universe.
