Lauren Conrad announces 10th anniversary special of The Hills

Fans of seminal reality show The Hills rejoice: LC is returning to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series.

The reality star will be reteaming with MTV for a "special project" in which she will reveal what it was like to live in a world of cameras ("super weird", apparently) and share some of the best kept behind-the-scenes secrets.

Less than a week ago, Lauren teased that she would be appearing in front of cameras again when she posted this photo on Instagram with the caption: "Never thought I'd see the day."

Lauren starred opposite her former bestie Heidi Montag, her boyfriend turned husband Spencer Pratt and their pals Whitney Port and Audrina Patridge in the LA reality show.

It spanned six seasons, but Lauren left after five to be replaced by her fellow Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari.

Lauren, who is now a successful fashion designer, said she had already marked the anniversary by watching the pilot episode of the show -- something she hadn't done in over a decade.

She wrote on her website: "Even though I know how it all ends, it was a little difficult watching my younger self struggle -- was in way over my head!"

"Looking back, I am grateful for the incredible opportunity we were given to take part in this show. The experience taught me so much and forever altered my life and my outlook for the better."

The anniversary special will air on MTV in the US on August 2.
