Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time, has welcomed the arrival of his first child by sharing a heart-warming photograph on Instagram.
The 30-year-old swimming star posted an image online as he cradled his new son Boomer, with fiancee Nicole Johnson in the background and the words: "Best feeling I have ever felt in my life!"
The 18-time Olympic gold-medallist added that his new baby was "happy and healthy".
Nicole, a former Miss California, and Michael have announced plans to get married following this summer's Olympics in Brazil.
Michael retired from swimming after the London 2012 games, where he won six of his 22 Olympic medals, before returning to competition in 2014.
He aims to compete in his fifth Olympic Games in Rio in August after appearances in Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London.
Michael has previously praised Nicole for helping him through his alcohol problems following his arrest for drink-driving in 2014.
Speaking on the US show Today, he said his drinking reached the point where he "didn't want to see another day" because of the effect it was having on his family.
