Green Man Festival

Updated

Set in the Brecon Beacons, The Green Man festival (August 20 to 22) is an independent music festival with live music such as psych, folk, indie, dance and Americana on five different stages and also DJs playing throughout the night covering dub, electro and more. It is widely considered a gentle and well-organised affair, and its hippy atmosphere and plenty of activities and workshops make it very child-friendly.

While Green Man is a music festival, culture, sustainable living and environmental consciousness are also important aspects. As well as the music stages, you'll also find a literature tent, science tent, cinema tent and a comedy tent.

The main stage of the festival is located in a natural amphitheatre and this year you will see acts like Doves, Flaming Lips, Billy Bragg, Joanna Newsom, Mumford And Sons and Laura Marling across the three days.

There are formal gardens containing art installations, stalls and entertainment - this is called Einstein's Garden.

You can drink a selection of ales, beers, ciders and cocktails in the Green Man Pub while listening to bands playing on the pub stage.

There's another bar situated in the Gothic Victorian Stables called the Courtyard Bar. And late night drinking takes place at the End Up Bar.

And while children are definitely welcome at the festival, if you do want to offload them for a while, the festival has a boutique babysitting service that gives kids a 'mini-festival' of their own.
