Dramatic pictures showing a parked car crashed through the side of a house have been released by police.

A resident’s car was shunted by another vehicle into their home in Northfield, Birmingham, early on Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to Cheverton Road at 3am, but the vehicle occupants had already fled the scene, authorities said.

The occupants of the home were not injured and no significant structural damage is believed to have been caused by the impact, West Midland’s Police said.

Kings Norton Fire Station, in Birmingham, tweeted images of the crash, adding: “Kings Norton & @WMFSNorthfield Green watch crews were called to car that had hit parked car at 3am, outside a house in Northfield, the collision caused the residents car to smash their bay window. It’s not the first time dramatic images have shown a car that crashed through a home.

A vehicle smashed into a bungalow in Cambridgeshire while the owner was watching TV last August.

The driver was cut free from the vehicle following the incident at Fleming Court at around 6.15pm.

The bungalow owner, who lives in a retirement housing complex, was uninjured despite the front of her home being destroyed, the BBC reported.

The homeowner’s daughter said: "She was watching the telly when she heard a loud bang, then she heard all the sirens.”

She revealed her mum was “deeply shocked”, adding: "The driver must have mounted the pavement and come all the way across the grass."

Police did not confirm what caused the incident.
