Dog's Final Walk with Cat Sister Before Crossing the Rainbow Bridge Is a Tear-Jerker

Those last few days with your dog can be brutal. You know that the end is near, but you can't do anything to stop it. Which is why a video of a cat walking with her Corgidor (that's Corgi and Labrador Retriever mix) for the very last time has us reaching for the tissues.

Shared by Emma, a pet loss companion online, the video shows exactly what happens when two pets have spent their lives together and it all has to come to an end.

As Emma explained in the footage, Spencer the Corgidor and his cat sister Belle have been "inseparable." But that's all about to change. In the video, Spencer and Belle were cuddling while Spencer took his very last walk ever.

The two are so comfortable being together that they passed back, forth, and around each other but never really strayed too far. We're sure that Belle has no idea what was about to happen. But this one last moment together really showed how strong their bond was.

Are you crying? Because we're totally crying. People online were also reaching for the Kleenex, judging by the comments section. "Omg so sad. Such precious babies," wrote one person. "Heartbreaking I’m so, so sorry for your loss my darling big hugs," another commenter wrote. "Speaks of a happy life, well lived and loved," someone else pointed out. "How sweet. I’m glad they got that last walk together," chimed in another person.

Coping With Pet Loss

If you're preparing yourself for pet loss, it can be sort of daunting. There's no real great way to say goodbye. But there are ways to make things easier. Here are just some of the things pet owners can do to cope when their animals cross the rainbow bridge.

First, you'll want to acknowledge what's happening. It's better to accept that your pet is going to pass than to ignore it completely. Take some time to feel your feelings. Loss is real and it's hard — there's no real avoiding it.

It's also good to remind yourself that your relationship with your pet will continue in your memories of them. Those never change! Look at photos, write your pet a letter, or maybe just jot down some of your favorite memories in a journal for yourself.  You'll want to revisit them later when the pain has ebbed.

Finally, find support from others. It might seem easier to keep things inside or to isolate yourself, but it's so much better to reach out and find support. Talk to friends or family about what you're going through. Or maybe seek out an online or in-person support group.

Have patience with yourself. It won't be easy, but one day you'll start to feel okay.
