We all know that Dachshunds are a short dog breed in general, but just how short are they really? Noodle and Tilde are wiener dogs and their mom decided to show us all how short that Noodle really is by standing her next to everyday items for perspective.

Mom shared the video at the end of March, and judging by the look on Noodle's face, she's not a fan of having to take part in this game. It's simple - mom starts off by placing a cowboy boot next to her to see if it's taller than her, and it is. Watch as she places other items next to her - most of them are taller than she is!

I think the bottle of wine did it for me and now I understand just how short Noodle really is! Her side eye was on point, and every time she did it, I cracked up! Commenters also got a kick out of the game. Blue got more than 14.5 thousand likes when they said, "Her face said, “You think this is funny huh”?! LOL!" @Alex pointed out, "Constant side eye of judgement…" and another commenter added, "Noddle’s expression is giving “Are you done?”!", with an eye roll emoji.

Why Are Dachshunds So Short and Other Facts

Believe it or not, Dachshunds were bred to have those short little legs. I Love Dachshunds explains, "Dachshunds have short, stubby legs as a result of a genetic condition called chondrodysplasia, which is a type of dwarfism. They were purposely bred this way so they could scrabble through the undergrowth and burrow down into the ground to hunt badgers."

Canine Pals explains why they are so long, "Their long, flexible spines allowed them to navigate through narrow tunnels in pursuit of their prey easily. Over time, breeders selectively bred dachshunds to have longer bodies and shorter legs, making them even more effective at their job." Due to their body's shape, they do have some health issues which can make them expensive if you have to pay for vet care. These include back problems, hip dysplasia, and Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), which can lead to paralysis if not treated quickly.

Every wonder what dachshund means? The word “dachshund” originates from German and translates to “badger dog”, quite fitting considering that that's what they were bred to hunt. It's one word made from two German words: “Dachs” (meaning “badger”) and “Hund” (meaning “dog” or “hound”).

Dachshunds are lovingly referred to as 'wiener dogs'. The breed is known for being quite stubborn, which can make training and housebreaking a challenge, but both can be done successfully with patience. Dachs love to bark, so if you're looking for a quiet pet, this isn't the dog for you. They are not fans of cats so if you have a feline, you might want to skip getting a wiener dog. Overall though, they do make great pets!
