Dog Brings His Bowl in Bed So He Can ‘Girl Rot’ With His Mama

You know how there are some dogs that just look like their owners? Well there are some dogs that take after their owners in other ways. Like singer Molly Burch. The musician recently shared the sweetest video of her dog Monty climbing into bed with her so they could "girl rot" together — don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds.

Girl rotting is an art. It's a full weekend day activity. And really what it means is when a woman spends all day in bed with little to no activity.

You know, they're "rotting" away in bed. Get it? It's a practice that many of us have engaged in from time to time when we just needed a little break from the world. Luckily Burch had Monty in the house, who grabbed his food bowl and climbed up the bed so that he and his mama could girl rot together.

"That's my boy," she wrote. "My soulmate," she added in the caption.

Obviously this is all in fun. And the comments section couldn't help but chime in that Monty really was his mama's best friend. "He knows the vibes," joked one person. "My dog does this too, and I really respect him for it," someone else shared. "On days I end up working late, when I’m home I move her bowl to the bed so we can rot and eat dinner together and she loves it," a third commenter agreed. "My dog’s too short to do this, but I’d like to believe he would do this if he had longer legs," added someone else.

Dogs and Sleep

If you're worried about the little one getting activity, we wouldn't be. Dogs love (and need) lots and lots of sleep. In fact dogs spend most of their time napping, dozing, sleeping, or lazing about. Dogs spend about 50 percent of their time sleeping — that's 12 hours out of 24.

They then spend another 30 percent of their day loafing around — what you could maybe say is girl rotting to them. Loafing is when a dog is kind of just hanging out in their bed. Not really doing anything, with nowhere to go. Sounds familiar, right?

When you add it up, dogs kind of spend about 80 percent of their time doing nada. Dogs need a lot more sleep than humans do, so it actually makes sense that they need all that down time. So we guess you might call Burch's dog a girl rotting expert.
