'Devastated' family's tributes to mother and son stabbed to death as ex-partner faces murder charge
Family and friends of the mother and son who were found stabbed to death inside a house in Louth have spoken of their “devastation” over the killings.
Bethany Vincent, 26, and nine-year-old Darren Henson were discovered dead after neighbours alerted police to the sound of a baby screaming at the property at around 8.29pm on Monday.
Ms Vincent’s ex-partner, Daniel Boulton, 29, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the pair following a 15-hour manhunt.
Lincolnshire Police said both victims had suffered multiple stab wounds at an “absolutely devastating and dramatic scene”, and a knife believed to have been used to inflict the injuries was recovered.
Family friend Susan Sharpe told The Sun that she “sobbed her heart out” when she found out about the killings.
She added: "I’ve known Bethany since she was knee high and watched her grow up into a teenage girl and young woman. She was absolutely devoted to her son and her baby boy.
“She was only young when she had her first child but she got on with it, she took to motherhood and was a very good and proud mum.
Ms Vincent’s aunt added: "It's just so awful. I can't believe what's happened.
"I've just come back from holiday and need to be with my sister. We're all absolutely devastated.”
Boulton was arrested in bare feet at around midday on Tuesday at a farm near Louth, after a man banged on a neighbour’s car window shouting “let me in, let me in”.
Boulton had to be tasered before he was arrested, according to Grimsby Live.
An officer added to the website: “A huge amount of work went on frankly because we considered there was a really significant risk to the public and we had to locate the suspect as soon as we could.”
An off-duty police officer was also taken to hospital after being stabbed in nearby Hubbard’s Hills.
Lincolnshire Police’s head of crime, Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox, said: “I would stress it is believed to be minor injuries with no suggestion whatsoever of any life-changing or life-threatening element to that."
Cox said no one else was injured at the property where the stabbing happened, but another young child was found there.
“We understand there is speculation that was child was abducted. This was not the case and the child has been safeguarded,” Cox added.
