Six women who apparently held a “Come Dine With Me” party in Hull were busted by police officers for breaching coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Humberside Police were called to the home on York Road on Saturday evening after a selfie of six women was uploaded to Facebook just after the event, inspired by the Channel 4 show, had apparently started.

Critics have called the group an “utter disgrace” for breaking the current national restrictions, which ban meetings between separate households in an indoor setting until December 2.

It comes as Hull recorded the highest rolling seven-day rate of new Covid-19 cases. On Tuesday, 1,477 new infections in the seven days up to November 19 were confirmed in the city – the equivalent of 568.6 cases per 100,000 people.

Before the alleged dinner party, one of the attendees Brooke Fairburn shared an invitation to an event on Facebook, detailing the time, place and guest names.

The invitation indicated that “Abi Bradford, Jodelle Demoulpied, Delee Tuttle and your host Brooke Fairburn” would meet up at the home in north Hull from 6pm on November 21.

After the event was meant to start according to this invitation, a selfie of six women huddled together indoors was shared online.

Two people not listed on the invite - Shawnee Tasker and Paige Dyson - were tagged in the photo on Facebook with the caption "Come dine with me crew coming for you.. 2 new members 2 day benders!"

One person who had seen the posts, who did not want to be named, told Hull Live that the event was an "utter disgrace".

"It's pretty obvious to be honest. Things like this are the reason the infection rate is going up," they added.

"Just do as you're told and we can get back to a bit more of normality faster."

Another critic commented online: "This hits a nerve on a whole different level. Pure and utter selfishness!”

Dyson initially told Hull Live that the photo was from “last year" before confirming that it was her name tagged in the photo.

She reportedly said: "I'd love to be spending my Sunday mornings trying to work... But I'm waiting on my big fat breakfast because I am rough.”

Brooke called the allegations "a load of s***" and said "it was before lockdown” while Demoulpied told social media critics: “You worry about yourself and I'll worry about myself.”

The other attendees did not respond to requests for comment.

Humberside Police told Hull Live that officers attended the event at around 9.30pm.

They said the women were "very cooperative” and left the property "without the need for enforcement", which can come with fines of up to £10,000.

In a statement, a spokeswoman for the force said: "Officers attended a property on York Road, Hull just before 9.30pm on Saturday 21 November, following a report of a group breaching the Covid-19 regulations surrounding gatherings and people mixing.

"Upon attendance, our officers followed the approach of engaging with the group, explaining the regulations and encouraging them to follow them. The women at the property were very cooperative and left the property without the need for enforcement.

"It is absolutely critical that everyone continues to follow the regulations set out to keep people safe and stop the spread of the virus.

"If you do witness any clear breaches of the Covid regulations, these can be reported by calling our non-emergency number 101.”
