Cockatoo Gets Mad at Mom and Totally Trashes the Kitchen

Even the most gentle, loving pet can have a sassy side. In fact--most do! Whether you have a pocket-sized pal or a horse that's twice your size, there's something about their silly attitude that can put a smile on your face no matter what. It's just so cute that it doesn't matter if they're being naughty!

One precious Cockatoo got away with trashing part of her owner's kitchen purely because she was cute. True story! Poppy didn't take it well when her mom asked her to stop screaming, so she took it out on whatever was nearby. Unfortunately for the forks, it was a utensil drawer! Nevertheless, Poppy's tantrum can now be considered pure TikTok gold.

LOL! Poppy is just too much. I guess she had a lot she still wanted to tell her mom! Throwing cutlery isn't usually the first way people or animals try to communicate, but if it works, it works! And it certainly gets her mom's attention, so I'd call that a victory. The hundreds of thousands of TikTok views are simply a bonus for this pet bird!

Commenters love the way the dramatic bird pauses between throws just to make sure that her mom is watching. Clearly, this is more for attention than catharsis. She pauses, gives her mom the side eye, and continues right on with her business once she's confident Mom isn't going to react. It's exactly like something a toddler would do!

"Well, she stopped screaming," pointed out one commenter. That's true--she did! This White Cockatoo knows her way around a loophole as if she's done this before, but for all we know, she totally has. The bird's owner doesn't seem too concerned or surprised by her throwing! Instead of stopping her or interrupting the behavior, she picked up her phone and started filming as if she didn't have a care in the world.

How Cockatoos Communicate

Although many talking bird species can communicate through sounds and even words, not all of them are obvious when they try to make a point. In fact, many words are just mimicked sounds that they use to get their owner's attention! In this case, Poppy's screaming could have indicated almost anything, but it sounds like her owner thinks she was trying to be an attention hog. Besides, bird screaming is so loud! It's definitely not what you want to hear in the kitchen.

When Poppy hasn't been able to use her words in the past, she must've found throwing things to be as effective as she can get. This is one common way birds try to get someone's attention, but whether the reasoning behind it is play or curiosity is yet to be discovered!
