Pets are such a big part of our lives and are just as much loved by us as the people close to us. Being separated from them can be hard, but is it just as hard on them as well? Alyssa is a cat mom who is away at college. She has a home camera set up so she can see her fur babies while she is away, and it also allows them to see her. She shared a video on Wednesday, April 3rd of her cat trying to get her attention, and it will make your day!

Her clever kitty knows where the camera is and that sometimes Alyssa pops up on the screen. The cat hops up onto the top of the fridge where it knows the camera is to try to get Alyssa's attention. It's the cutest thing you'll see today!

In another video, Alyssa shares her view and what she saw when the cat was standing in front of the camera. The cat's cute face is so sweet! Alyssa's video has been viewed almost 9 million times, has 2 million likes, and nearly 8 thousand comments...it went viral quickly! She also got comments from some VIPs including Pet Smart, Microsoft 365, Fed Ex, and more. @Microsoft 365 got more than 50 thousand likes when they said what we were all thinking, "Welp, time to pack up and move home."

Do Cats Miss Us When We Are Away?

It was clear that Alyssa's cat knows that the camera sometimes shows its owner, but does the cat really miss her? Researchers are split on whether or not they think cats miss their owners when they are away, but Catster says they do give us some signs. "While cats do not need to have their humans as close as dogs generally do, they can still develop deep connections with their owners. Whether cats can miss their owners is debatable, but they still desire your attention and love."

How do you know that they missed you? One of the biggest signs is that when you get home, they meow and cry...they are happy to see you and that you're back where you belong! Purring is also a sure sign that they are happy to have you back, and as Catster said, "When a cat is left alone for a longer period, the purring and the yearning for companionship may increase."

When you get settled in, your cat might bring you a gift...something that is important to them (like a favorite toy) or that they covet (like a dead mouse!). Both of those things are equally important in their eyes, and they want to share it with you. It's an indication that they trust you with the most important things that they have.

Like dogs miss their humans, I really think cats do as well. Being welcomed home by someone that loves you so much is always such a great feeling!
