Chris Evans has been treated by paramedics after being involved in an accident in a vehicle at a festival.

The radio host was in a TukTuk at Carfest on Saturday (August 26) when it flipped over leaving two female passengers injured.

Evans, 57, was reportedly attempting to do 'doughnuts' in the rikshaw when it overturned.

Both female passengers sustained minor injuries, while Evans himself was left unscathed in the incident at Laverstoke Park Farm, near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

Witnesses at the scene told the Mirror that both women were guests of the DJ and were helped out of the vehicle, Evans himself was not hurt and was seen on video footage giving them assistance as an ambulance headed over.

A statement from festival organisers confirmed the incident reading: "“This morning at CarFest the Tuk Tuk which Chris Evans was driving overturned on the track as Chris changed direction.

"The two passengers on board had minor injuries and the CarFest on-site medical team attended to support. Richard Hammond was not in the vehicle at any time.”

While Hammond was at the event, he had no involvement in Evan's accident.

The dramatic events come after Evans confirmed to listeners of his Virgin Radio show that he has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

He confirmed that it had been caught in the early stages and that he will start treatment next month and is hoping to make a full recovery.

He said: "I’ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue. So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.

"Obviously, better news would have been [that it was] negative. But the reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible."

He continued: ‘There’s this phrase called a malignant melanoma – you know once you get something and you find out all about it – that is a redundant phrase because if it is a melanoma, it is malignant.

"But it’s been caught so early, just so you know, that it should be completely treatable."

The broadcaster also admitted that he is now scheduled for an operation to remove "a small square of skin on the 14th of September."
